Dreamsieve privacy policy
In short
- The dreams you record stay on your devices and in your own iCloud account. We never receive them.
- The app has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. It sends us nothing, and it sends your dreams only to your own iCloud and to the places you choose to share them.
- Speech recognition and tag suggestions run on your device.
- Apple handles the payment for the app. We never see your card details.

What stays on your device
The app keeps on your device the dreams you record: written fragments, sketches, audio recordings, transcripts, each dream's title, date, duration and pleasantness, and your tags. It also keeps your settings: the appearance, app lock and sync.
The app has no account and no server of its own. We never receive any of this. Your device's own backups, to iCloud or to a computer, include the app's data, as they do for other apps. Dreamsieve's settings don't change that.
iCloud sync
When your Apple Account is available, Dreamsieve keeps a copy of your dreams and tags in your private iCloud database, so that your iPhones and iPads stay in step. It counts toward your iCloud storage. Apple stores this copy under Apple's privacy policy. Dreams in Recently Deleted stay there with their content until they're deleted permanently.
We can't read it. Dreamsieve syncs it only with devices signed in to your Apple Account, and has no way to share your journal with other people.
Sync is on until you turn off Sync with iCloud on this device, in Settings, the gear in the Journal tab. The setting applies to each device separately. Turning it off keeps the dreams on the device and the copies already in iCloud. To keep your journal with the right account, the app stores an identifier that iCloud gives your account for this app. If a different Apple Account signs in, Dreamsieve pauses sync rather than upload your journal to that account.
Microphone, speech and suggestions
The app uses the microphone only after you choose Record or Dictate and allow it. A recording can continue when you switch apps or lock the screen, until you stop it or the system interrupts it. Dictation turns your voice into text without saving a recording.
Dictate and Transcribe use speech recognition on your device only, and never fall back to a server. Tag suggestions use Apple's on-device model. They read only the written fragments and transcripts of the dream you're working on, and nothing is added until you accept it. Your keyboard's own dictation follows your device's settings, not Dreamsieve's.
App lock
App lock uses Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode, which iOS checks on your device. The app learns only whether the check succeeded, never your face, fingerprint or passcode. While the journal is locked, the app hides it and covers it in the app switcher.
Sharing
When you share a fragment, Dreamsieve passes only what you picked, such as a piece of text, a transcript, a sketch or a recording, to the place you choose, which may keep its own copy. To save a sketch to Photos, the app asks only to add images, and never reads your photo library.
Buying the app
Apple takes the payment for Dreamsieve, under its own terms and privacy policy. Apple reports sales to us, such as their date, country and price, for our accounting. These reports don't name you, and we never see your card details.
Crash reports
If your device shares diagnostics with app developers, Apple passes us reports of the app's crashes. They don't identify you. You choose this in the Settings app, under Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements. If you test the app through TestFlight, Apple shares with us what TestFlight shows developers: your name and email if we invited you by email, how often you install and open the app, its crash reports, and any feedback and screenshots you send. Ask us, and we'll remove you as a tester.
If you write to us, we use your email address and your message to answer you. We keep them for 12 months after the conversation ends, unless we need them longer to meet a legal obligation. Please leave private dream content out of your message.

Transfers outside the EEA

How long data is kept
| Data | Kept |
|---|---|
| Your dreams | On your device until you delete them or the app, and in your device backups until they are replaced. The iCloud copy until you delete the dream or use Delete cloud copies. |
| Deleted dreams | In Recently Deleted for 30 days, then deleted permanently the next time Dreamsieve opens, unless you delete them sooner. |
| Sales reports | 7 years, as Dutch law requires for accounting records. |
| Crash reports | By Apple, under its policy. |
| 12 months after the conversation ends. |
Deleting your data
- A dream: Delete dream moves it to Recently Deleted. You can restore it there for 30 days, or choose Delete permanently. Dreamsieve permanently deletes ones older than 30 days the next time it opens. Deletions reach your other devices when they sync. A permanently deleted dream leaves a marker without its content, so an old offline copy can't bring it back.
- A fragment: Remove fragment, in the fragment's menu.
- Tags: tag names stay in your tag list after their dreams are deleted, and a renamed tag keeps its earlier name in the app's tag history. The app can't delete a tag. To remove them, follow Everything below.
- Copies in iCloud: in the journal's Settings, Manage iCloud data, Delete cloud copies. It deletes the dreams and tags in iCloud, leaving markers without content, keeps the dreams on this device, and turns sync off here. Other devices keep their own copies too, and stop syncing them. Changes still waiting to upload on another device aren't included.
- Everything: delete the app from every device. Then open the Settings app, tap your name, then iCloud, then Storage (or Manage Account Storage). Tap Dreamsieve, then Delete Data from iCloud. That removes the whole iCloud journal, markers included. Backups made earlier, and anything you shared or saved to Photos, keep their own copies until you delete them there.
- Your email: ask us, and we'll delete it.
Apart from your email, and your tester details if you use TestFlight, we hold nothing about you.

Under the GDPR you have the right to ask us for access to your personal data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. Write to support@4donsoft.com.
