Disciplinator privacy policy
In short
- Your habits, your history and everything else you enter stay on your device. We never receive them.
- If your device uses iCloud, a copy goes to your own iCloud account. We can't read it.
- The free version shows ads, from Google AdMob. Google receives data about your device and how you use the app, as described below. Nothing you enter in the app goes to Google.
- With Pro, there are no ads, and the app never starts Google's ad software or its consent form.
- Apple handles the payment for Pro. We never see your card details.

What stays on your device
The app keeps on your device:
- your habits and the amounts, reminders and rest days you set for them;
- what you log each day, and your history;
- your Discipline Score and its history;
- the name the coach calls you, if you give one;
- your settings.
The app has no account and no server. We never receive any of this. Reminders are scheduled by your device, and the widget reads what the app has stored on the device.
iCloud sync
When your device is signed in to iCloud with iCloud Drive on, the app keeps a copy of your data in your private iCloud database, so that your iPhones and iPads stay in step. Apple stores that copy under Apple's privacy policy. We can't read it. A few settings about the device itself stay on each device: the lock-screen voice, the clock and which notifications it sends.
Ads in the free version
The free version shows one ad, on the Today screen, through Google AdMob. Google's software in the app collects, according to Google:
- your IP address, which Google uses to estimate your approximate location;
- device identifiers: an identifier limited to our apps, and the advertising identifier only if you allow tracking, as described below;
- the ads you see and tap, and other interactions in the app, such as taps and views;
- crash and performance data from Google's software.
Google uses this data to show ads and measure them, to prevent fraud and abuse, and to personalize ads. In Europe, Google personalizes ads only if you agree in its consent form. Everywhere, it uses the advertising identifier only if you allow tracking. Nothing you enter in the app, such as your habits, your history or your name, goes to Google.
Your consent in Europe. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, Google's consent form asks for your choice before ads use your data in ways that need consent. You can change your choice at any time in the app's Settings, under Privacy choices.
Tracking. After Google's form, where it applies, iOS asks whether the app may track you. If you allow it, Google receives your device's advertising identifier and may use it to personalize ads and measure them across other companies' apps and websites. If you don't, Google doesn't receive it, and you still see an ad. You can change this in the Settings app, under Privacy & Security, Tracking.
How Google handles this data: Google's privacy policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Buying Pro
Apple takes the payment for Pro, under its own terms and privacy policy. Apple tells us about the order, such as its date, country and price, for our accounting and to handle refunds. We never see your card details. The app checks your purchase with Apple on your device.
Crash reports
If your device shares diagnostics with app developers, Apple passes us reports of the app's crashes. They don't identify you. You choose this in the Settings app, under Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements. If you test the app through TestFlight, Apple shares with us what TestFlight shows developers: your name and email if we invited you by email, how often you install and open the app, its crash reports, and any feedback and screenshots you send. Ask us, and we'll remove you as a tester.
If you write to us, we use your email address and your message to answer you. We keep them for 12 months after the conversation ends, unless we need them longer to meet a legal obligation.
This website
This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no ads.
Legal bases
- Ads: your consent, where the law requires it, for storing and reading information on your device and for personalized ads. Otherwise our legitimate interest in funding the free version through ads and in preventing fraud.
- Buying Pro: performing our contract with you, and our legal obligation to keep accounting records.
- Crash reports and TestFlight: our legitimate interest in testing and fixing the app, with your choice in your device's settings.
- Email: our legitimate interest in answering you.
- This website: our legitimate interest in sending you the page you asked for.
Who receives data
- Google, for ads in the free version.
- Apple, for iCloud sync, for buying Pro, and for crash reports if you share them.
Transfers outside the EEA
Apple and Google may process data in the United States and other countries outside the European Economic Area. They rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
How long data is kept
| Data | Kept |
|---|---|
| What you enter in the app | On your device until you delete it or the app. The iCloud copy until you delete it there. |
| Ad data | By Google, under Google's policy. |
| Order details | 7 years, as Dutch law requires for accounting records. |
| Crash reports | By Apple, under its policy. |
| 12 months after the conversation ends. |
Deleting your data
- A habit: open it in the app and choose Delete habit. It leaves the app and iCloud. The device keeps a note of the deletion, with the habit's name, for 90 days after iCloud has removed it, or until you delete the app if your device doesn't use iCloud. Your past days keep their results. To remove all of it at once, delete the app's data as described next.
- Everything: delete the app. To delete the iCloud copy too, open the Settings app, tap your name, then iCloud, then Storage (or Manage Account Storage). Tap Disciplinator, then Delete Data from iCloud. Devices that sync with that iCloud account then erase it too.
- Your email: ask us, and we'll delete it.
Apart from your email, order details, which the law makes us keep, and your tester details if you use TestFlight, we hold nothing about you.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to ask us for access to your personal data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time, as described above, without affecting what was done before. Write to support@4donsoft.com.
You also have the right to complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or to the authority where you live.
Children
Disciplinator isn't meant for children under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll publish the new version here with a new effective date.
